Dubai: The UAE Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) said on Sunday that both licensed internet service providers (ISPs) have complied with the directives of the Internet Access Management (IAM) policy issued by the TRA on July 29, this year.

Mohammad Nasser Al Ganim, TRA Board Member and Director-General, stated: "We are pleased that both licensed UAE ISPs, etisalat and du, have complied with the directives of the IAM policy by establishing a process for internet end-users to place their comments, views, complaints, suggestions and messages with respect to the IAM and its procedures."

Blocked sites
"For transparency, however, the ISPs were asked to publish the prohibited content categories on their websites for the end-user to be aware of the reasons behind blocking certain websites," Al Ganim added.

"The TRA organised a workshop for both ISPs, providing them with the guidelines of the IAM policy. The workshop gave them the scientific basis on how to handle the policy," Al Ganim said.
