Post subject: Says it is connected on my mac but isnt

I just signed up for VPN service and followed the set up instructions. According to my macbook, I'm connected to the vpn. However, checking my ip address shows that I'm still connected to my wifi provider. I'm a total newbie, does anybody have any ideas on what I'm not doing right? Thanks

Please go to the connection settings, Advanced and check "Send All Traffic Over VPN"
